In order to ramp up its brand image as one of the premium manufacturers in India, Maruti Suzuki India limited, the largest automobile manufacturer in the country is now going to recondition its 1,800 showrooms, 3,000 workshops and 1,000 pre-owned car showrooms under the True Value brand. Maruti Suzuki has already introduced its premium NEXA dealership chain, offering buyers an plusher experience in comparison to the automaker s standard dealerships. The part of this initiative is also to introduce exclusive service outlets for its cars which are sold through the NEXA chain of dealerships. This revamp of this existing showrooms, comes at the sole cost of the dealers and is not like the NEXA showroom where Maruti also pitches in with the dealers in terms of the monetary support. To put it into perspective, for remodeling a dealership in a metro city, it takes closer to INR 1-2 Crores. Addressing the media, Kenichi Ayukawa, managing director and chief executive of Maruti Suzuki said “We started Nexa in 2015. After two years have passed, it seems like customers have accepted this kind of approach,” He further added that “Through that we learnt a lot of things. We are trying to spread that kind of experience. The automaker s initiative to ramp up its dealership outlets, for offering a premium experience to buyers going for Maruti Suzuki cars is because it wants to change its brand image as the manufacture of just small cars but also someone which offers a portfolio of premium cars alike.
